If you want to get away near Lima. Rupac is one of the nearby destinations of Lima and with a beautiful landscape of the Sierra de Lima !!

How to get to Rupac?

To go to Rupac you have two options:

Own car: if you have a van available to go on wild roads, this is your option. First you should head towards Huaral through the Panamericana Norte, depending on the traffic you will arrive between 2 - 3 hours. From Huaral, head towards the town of Pampas. When you get to Pampas, you can leave your car there, it is very safe and the 6 km walk begins. The hike is very simple but it depends a lot on your physique, we took 3 hours with 10 kilos of backpacks each!

Bus: well this option on your own we advise you to go Saturday. We went on Sunday and we were about to walk 50 km back because on Monday there were no taxis to take you to Huaral, Pampas is really a ghost town.

Take a uber to Av. Alfredo Mendiola 4140 from where the Z Bus leaves, and no boys, it does not leave the Terminal Plaza Norte, we went and gave us that bad news. The cost of the Uber was S /. 20 from Miraflores. They can also take "combis". Take the ZBus to Huaral, leaving every 15 min. But we recommend that you go as early as possible so that you arrive at sunset from Rupac. The cost was S /. 7.5 and take 1 hour. In Huaral, take a bus to the town of Pampas, it will cost you S /. 25 ($ 7.57) per person and takes 2 hours. We paid 30 soles ($ 9) because since it was Sunday there were not many people going up to Rupac and we arrived a little late, so do not take the risk and try to go early Saturday because there may be no buses or you will pay private taxis that cost 100 soles ( $ 30) approximately !!

In Pampas, the trek to Rupac begins, we walk almost 3 hours with a lot of weight on our backs. So if you can !! The walk is not very steep but it really depends on each person and their physical condition.

And well guys back is the same thing, just try to stay with the same group to pick them up the next day because well in all that area there is no signal from any cell phone, only Claro.

What to bring?
  • Definitely bring your tent, so you can sleep and see the most beautiful thing in Rupac which is the sunrise with the cloud mattress and the sunset.

  • Many blankets, it is very cold here so if you do not wear good blankets that are warm and do not weigh much, you will sleep warm. But if you don't bring, you can rent here. It has a cost but we did not pay because the day we went that falls Sunday there were no owners, so technically we borrowed it since its owner was in Pampas and told us that we could take what we wanted since he was not going to go up to charge us !!. We also borrow mattress!! But with the permission of its owner.

  • Food, on Saturdays or holidays there are some ladies who sell tacos and certain things in Rupac itself. In any case, we recommend that you bring fruits and chocolates to give them energy and plenty of water to hydrate !! Also in the town of Pampas there is a small place where they serve you a delicious menu with a dish called Pachamanca and it costs 10 soles ($ 3).

  • Rain capes, if you did not buy in the same restaurant in Pampa they sell a rain cape for 4 soles ($ 1). If there are days when it rains enough, be careful especially between the months of December and March.
